ASM Global Accounting Manager (E) in Oakland, California

Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a variety of daily and monthly

financial accounting duties including account reconciliations and analysis, preparation of journal entries and related monthly close documents, financial records maintenance and monthly financial reporting. The position will supervise staff and requires strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience. (Annual Salary Range $110,000.00 to $130,000.00)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Receivable/Payable, and Payroll functions.

  • Prepare and administer budgets.

  • Manage and protect company cash and assets.

  • Reconcile and analyze GL accounts including bank accounts, accounts receivable, pre-paid, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue accounts and other accounts as required.

  • Review contracts and manage proper recognition of related revenue.

  • Gather, compile, analyze and evaluate data from department heads for monthly financial statements, budget and forecasts.

  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries on a timely basis.

  • Provide management and oversight of event settlements.

  • Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee procedures and controls for various business functions.

  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management; create and oversee audit schedules and provide support as needed for both internal and external audits.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work flexible hours based on events, including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

  • Must have professional attitude and appearance.

Education and/or Experience

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year). Advanced Accounting Degree (preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years of related, accounting/finance work experience. CPA (preferred).

  • Proficient PC skills in Internet Explorer, Outlook and MS Word.

  • Proficient in accounting software systems, particularly MS Excel.

  • Proficient in Microsoft D-365 (preferred).

  • Experience in fund accounting support (preferred).

  • Experience in general ledger accounting support.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills required.

  • Strong attention to detail is required, good with numbers and comfortable working with data.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; communicates effectively with management pertaining to finance and operation activities.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to accommodate monthly, quarterly and year-end closings.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet all deadlines.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems and discrepancies in systems.

  • Ability to accurately evaluate and input information using a moderately complex financial accounting system.
