Location

This means your Kiewit adventure is custom designed to meet our shared needs. The ideal location for this position is Lenexa, KS. Management will consider other supporting locations.

Responsibilities

• Utilize applicable engineering national and local codes

• Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding and lighting systems from concept to completion utilizing engineering documents, sketches or vendor data.

• Reports project progression updates and/or issues to project lead team.

• Coordinates with project team by utilizing the Project Database: Request for Review Process, Holds List, ECN, Request for information from other disciplines, and all other applicable functions.

• Develops 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills.

  • Checks and navigates in the 3D models for interferences and constructability.

  • Routes electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule.

  • Model electrical components using vendor submittals and electrical designs.

  • Perform calculations to check allowable fill in conduits, cable tray systems, and pull boxes according to NEC.

  • Perform layout of electrical equipment.

  • Properly size cables and raceways.

  • Gathers information needed to develop design and verify voltage separation requirements are met.

  • Creates plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables.

  • Analyze, inspect, and construct designs while adhering to electrical quality standards and department procedures.

  • Checks design for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking.

  • Resolves checked drawings; prove and understand comments made.

  • Acts as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues.

  • Complies with company standards to produce quality deliverables.

  • Reports task progress to Lead Designer.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years’ experience in Design and/or Drafting disciplines with a background in electrical design.

• Experience utilizing 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or SmartPlant 3D and have knowledge of the latest computer operating systems. SmartPlant 3D experience is preferred.

• Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.

• Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment.

• Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.

  • Proficient in Navisworks software for design review, and basic computing programs including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • DOE and Commercial Nuclear experience preferred but not required.

  • Little to no supervision required to apply standard correctly to design.

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permeant Resident.

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

  • Must be able to represent Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors, and any other contacts outside the Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. organization.
