Robert Half Staff Accountant in Oak Brook, Illinois
Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team near Oak Brook, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit preparation while maintaining high ethical standards.
Responsibilities:
• Investigate and respond to customer inquiries related to accounts receivable independently.
• Record accounts receivable transactions, including deposits and payment applications, accurately.
• Generate aging reports and facilitate weekly meetings to address overdue accounts.
• Reconcile bank statements and perform accurate month-end and year-end closings.
• Prepare journal entries for general ledger accounts, such as accrued expenses and capitalized costs.
• Conduct reconciliations for accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory.
• File sales and use taxes, and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
• Assist in financial audits by creating necessary confirmations and providing required documentation.
• Analyze financial statement variances and present reports to the parent company.
• Identify and recommend improvements to internal controls, processes, and cost efficiencies.

Requirements
• Proven experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
• Proficiency in using accounting software Microsoft Dynamics.
• Strong skills in financial analysis, journal entry preparation, and variance reporting.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with sales and use tax regulations and filing processes.
• Experience in month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and maintain high ethical standards.
• Japanese language proficiency is required
