Crate & Barrel Director, Asset Protection in Northbrook, Illinois

This role is the “protector in chief” of the Company’s assets, ensuring the security of our people, our locations and our physical assets; partnering cross-functionally to ensure proper development and implementation of inventory control and loss prevention programs; and providing for sound emergency response and business continuity plans, in partnership with key leaders and operations team members.

A day in the life as the Director, Asset Protection…

Asset Protection

  • Develop strategy to reduce exposure to CBH, oversee loss/fraud response efforts, including de-escalation and recovery protocols, interruption of fraudulent orders/schemes, installation of necessary surveillance systems.

  • Proactively develop, implement and oversee company-wide asset protection policies to ensure consistent practices amongst locations and minimize exposure and loss to the organization.

  • Ensure proper response to and documentation of theft and fraud cases and generation of reporting to ensure efforts are data-driven and measured and risk is reduced.

  • Deploy and oversee intelligence-led tactics to keep associates and customers safe and secure in all locations and settings

  • Regularly assess and lead updates to necessary security measures throughout company’s operations

    Inventory Control

  • Develop and implement protocols for and oversee company-wide inventory management and control activities

  • Create and oversee appropriate reporting structures within varying operations

  • Understand and support Company processes and innovations, factoring them into IC plans

  • Drive standardization of inventory control policies and procedures throughout the company

  • Develop reporting and business intelligence applied in inventory control management

    Crisis Response

  • Develop, maintain and lead company’s business continuity and emergency response plans and protocols

  • Engage company leaders and key stakeholders to ensure appropriate priorities flow from the plans and their designated risk tolerances

  • Anticipate and lead planning and action in response to threats and crisis facing the industry and the company’s locations in general and the company and its operations in particular

  • People Development

  • Develop and build lead asset protection team, both individually and as a collective

  • Build and maintain positive cross-functional relationships throughout the company

    What you’ll bring to the table…

  • Proactive strategist, problem solver and project manager

  • Ability to establish and drive realization of KPIs, to ensure accuracy of data/reporting and proper accounting for all applicable impacts, and to leverage large amounts of data and predictive models

  • Ability to create data driven, persuasive presentations (strategic and tactical)

  • Continuous improvement mindset/approach

  • Understand and drive tech and process innovation

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in company-wide, team and 1:1 settings

  • Impeccable ethics and integrity in line with highest standards of safety and compliance

    We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in loss prevention or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education

  • 12+ years experience in asset protection, security, inventory control and crisis response in customer and non-customer facing settings

  • Retail and warehousing experience strongly preferred

  • Experience leading remote field teams
