Connecticut State Job Bank HR/Senior Payroll Associate in North Haven, Connecticut

- Maintains payroll information by designing systems, directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data. Responsible for the transmission of weekly payroll for Teamsters/Warehouse Union employees in Paycom System. Serves as a back-up for Office Non-Union employees and Sales Union population.
- Reviews and Approves all Payroll exceptions and balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Responsible for Teamsters employees new hire orientation and other company programs (Uber, Travel Policy timecard tracking for all BB and WW employees, Motus, DPL,Managers on the auto rental )
- Coordinate employee engagement and community events onsite. (Annual Picnic, United Way, Spotlight)
- Ensures all payroll reports are accurate and prepared on a timely basis to ensure accurate recording in the general ledger and accurate and timely payment of payroll liabilities.
- Work closely with the HR Director and HR Team on issues related to employee life cycle. Prepared timecards, paid time off processing, Workers compensation cases, LOAs, increases and other HR-related issues prior to each payroll transmission.
- Ensures accuracy of W-2s and supports ACA requirements (1095c).
- Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures (SOPs).
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Implementation of best practices to streamline the payroll process.
- Compliance and reporting in a timely manner.
- Continuous auditing and analysis of the overall payroll function forTeamsters/Warehouse employees.
- Oversees and reviews payroll payments and performs account reconciliations for the HR Directors approval.
- Track and verify garnishment (Paycom)administration and calculations for Teamster population.
- Experienced with one of more of HRIS Systems, HRIS Implementations, HRIS Testing and Analysis, or HRIS Configurations.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of HR processes and strong data management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to effectively manage project work while balancing priorities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- 5-10 Years of Experience in similar roles.
- Degree in accounting, or financea plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
- Payroll certifications a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant legal regulations. in a multi-union environment.
- Experience with Paycom HRIS systems required. ADP or UltiPro
- Experience with JDE and Diver software a plus.
