POSITION SUMMARY:

To maintain the neat, clean, safe and orderly appearance of facilities in N. Clarendon and Rutland on a scheduled and/or support basis.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Clean common areas, lunchrooms, rest rooms, offices, fitness/locker room, conference-rooms and call center workstations. Involves vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning, mopping and general cleaning.
  • Operate floor and carpet care equipment as needed maintaining a flexible schedule around building occupants scheduling needs to complete these tasks.
  • Gather and sort trash and recyclable material from receptacles and dispose of in designated locations.
  • Be alert to possible safety and fire hazards and notify a manager, supervisor, team leader or coordinator immediately of any concerns.
  • Clean kitchen areas and put away dishes, as necessary.
  • Perform daily, monthly and annual housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Prepare for seasonal changes such as resetting clocks, light timers, set up/clean deck furniture, wash windows etc.
  • Partner with Team Leader to prepare and update a building wide cleaning schedule.
  • Help manage inventory levels, usage and ordering of necessary cleaning activities supplies.
  • Clean outside walkways, eating and sitting areas.
  • Stripping and waxing of floors and stairways in common areas.
  • Water inside plants throughout facility.
  • Assist staff in preparing for company gatherings and meetings.
  • Support the Housekeeping needs of other VCS buildings as necessary.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and willing to adapt to business needs, including weekends and holiday hours on occasion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be self-motivated to accomplish high-quality and timely work.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in multi-discipline environment.
  • Ability to interact with company staff and vendors with a high level of professionalism.
  • Previous housekeeping experience helpful but not necessary.
  • Ability to walk, stand, reach, bend and lift for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform at a high energy level with limited supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be thorough and conscientious with good attention to detail.
  • Valid Vermont State Drivers License with clean driving record.
  • Ability to coordinate assignments and projects with appropriate staff.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Prolonged standing, walking and bending in addition to sitting in front of a computer.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to give regular communications in person, writing, by email and by phone.
  • Ability to travel independently in the daytime and evening to destinations.
  • Ability to access all work site of the company.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Able to endure mild to moderate noise level in the work environment, depending on the location.

  • Occasionally use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
