Job Description
AbbVie’s Corporate Communications team is responsible for enterprise internal and external communications to enhance and protect AbbVie’s reputation. The team is currently seeking an Associate Director who will lead communications for AbbVie’s Global Security organization and support crisis communications and issues management across AbbVie’s global footprint.
Reporting to the Director of Global Operations Communications, this role will be responsible for helping AbbVie prepare for, respond to and recover from issues and crises. As a member of the Global Operations Communications team, this role will be responsible for using open-source intelligence to rapidly identify and elevate reputational and business issues. This dynamic role will play a key role in helping to protect and enhance AbbVie’s reputation.
This role will be based in AbbVie’s headquarters in North Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities include:
Monitors traditional media, social media and other communications channels for potential security issues, geopolitical events or business issues in the public domain
Partners with AbbVie’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to rapidly identify, classify and elevate issues with impact to AbbVie’s business, people and facilities
Leads internal and strategic communications for the Global Security function
Serves as communications liaison to AbbVie’s physical and product security teams
Supports crisis communications response for local, regional and international events
Maintains Crisis Communications plan and supports training and education of AbbVie’s Corporate Affairs teams around the world.
Interfaces with key business functions including Government Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Cybersecurity and Legal.
Works with Operations Communications team on key events, change management activities and communications campaigns
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of public relations/communications experience required.
Experience identifying, monitoring and analyzing reputational and geopolitical issues across a global footprint
Proven track record of working with senior executives.
Ability to provide strategic counsel for a variety of communications scenarios and to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication skills – written and verbal, with exceptional attention to detail.
Past experience partnering with physical and cyber security teams as well as international experience is a plus
Ability to think strategically and act decisively in high-pressure situations
Strong project management and multitasking abilities, managing multiple, tight deadlines.
This role is part of a team with international responsibilities and the successful candidate will be expected to be available during nights and weekends in emergency situations
Some travel and non-traditional work hours will also be expected

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Salary: $133,500 - $253,500
