Actalent Mechanical Engineer in North Chesterfield, Virginia

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be a key influencer in manufacturing process control, reliability, and automation for the plant. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to implement innovative designs, manage projects, and provide tactical support to improve plant safety and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE). Your role will involve significant involvement in the installation and ramp-up of a new blown film extrusion and packaging line, as well as supporting our Facilities, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and Preventive Maintenance (PM) initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and promote our safety culture within the sites including contractors, suppliers, and visitors.

  • Mechanically scope, design, engineer, or modify equipment that improves safety, quality, cost, or delivery.

  • Manage capital projects utilizing the project management life cycle.

  • Collaborate with outside vendors and suppliers to ensure that new equipment upgrades meet necessary performance, design, and safety specifications.

  • Supply the necessary technical data, drawings, etc. to keep projects moving efficiently and effectively.

  • Participate in and/or facilitate maintainability and design reviews with key stakeholders and end users.

  • Review and approve engineering technical documents, as applicable.

  • Perform factory and site acceptance testing for new equipment.

  • Support the safe commissioning and startup of new projects and/or equipment modifications and upgrades.

  • Ensure that proper training and turnover packages are provided to the plant operations, maintaining a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and meeting all specifications.

  • Drive projects to completion while maintaining timeline, budget, and project objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

  • Experience in mechanical engineering design and new product development.

  • Mechanical engineering degree (BS in ME).

  • 2-4 years of industry experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in film manufacturing, ideally nylon film.

  • Experience with blown film extrusion or film converting.

Work Environment

You will be working in a manufacturing environment with approximately 250 employees. This position involves building a new Nylon Film product line for the facility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.27/hr.
