UIC Government Services and the Bowhead Family of Companies Systems Administrator in Norfolk, Virginia

Overview

Systems Administrator (C80-2025-22590):

Bowhead seeks a Systems Administrator to join our team at Naval Surface Warfare Center located at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

Responsibilities

  • Basic IT support and troubleshooting (i.e., printers go offline, inability to fill forms, volume issues on EMDs, apps not working on desktop, etc)

  • Will provide direct support to approximately 50 customers in the BEX Office

  • Due to increased virtual presence that is being pursued for the assessment process, a dedicated resource that can be available immediately if there is a technology issues

  • Must be able to communicate and coordinate with other stakeholders (within and outside Dept, including ISSO, REETA team, external contractors/developers) to identify appropriate technology to support the project

  • Webinar support to include utilizing existing technology (i.e., WebEX, Zoom, Teams, etc.) and researching possible alternatives for future efforts.

  • Must be self-starter and able to learn and become an expert with existing BEX hardware and software (REETA including the REETA suite of apps [BEX, STAR, SBEX, QEP,] HR apps, IBM SPSS modeler)

  • Will work with the GTM/OTS REETA team and technology team during REETA redesign to ensure BEX equities in the program are adequately addressed

  • Provide data transfer from PearsonVUE into the STAR system and through the QEP and invitation to oral assessment for gateway tests (CFPT, OMST, IMST)

  • Will be responsible for tracking the IT inventory tracking IT inventory by working with the GTM General Services Unite and the GTM/OTS Help Desk

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with two to five-years of experience

  • Fundamental understanding of operating system concepts, system interconnectivity, virtualization, hardware and software management, active directory and group policy, file systems, client/server interoperability, performance analysis, system vulnerability assessment, remediation and prevention.

  • Professional and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) between customers, team members, and line management.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision from senior leadership.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
