System One Heavy Highway Construction Project Manager in Norfolk, Virginia

With over $ 2 billion in annual revenue and 3,800 team members, our client is one of America's largest General Contractors and services a broad spectrum of clients in both the private and public business sectors.

We are looking for a Project Manager (Heavy Highway – Roadway/Bridge projects) for the Tidewater, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Newport News, Virginia Beach area.

As a Project Manager for their Heavy Highway – Roadway/Bridge projects, you will:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of heavy highway/bridge construction projects.

  • Ensures that project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

  • Manage Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen who supervise construction employees; be charged with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review the project proposals or plans to determine the timeframe, funding limitations, project procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources for various phases of the project.

  • Establishes work plans and staffing for each phase of the project - arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.

  • Confer with project staff to outline the work plan, and assign duties/responsibilities and authority.

  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.

  • Review status reports from project personnel and modify schedules/plans as needed.

  • Prepare project reports for management, clients, or others.

  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.

  • Coordinate project activities with activities of governmental agencies and subcontractors.

  • Understand and be able to analyze and execute CPM-based project schedules.

  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with policies and applicable laws, including interviewing/hiring; training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding/disciplining; addressing complaints/resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

  • 10+ years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
