As a Cybersecurity Network Engineer, you will be an important member of the GE Aerospace Cybersecurity & Technology Risk team. This is a hands-on technical role that will require you to leverage your knowledge of cybersecurity, computer networking and IT systems to design, build, and operate high technology computing environments in support of business goals and in compliance with company/industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role will be reporting to the be named “Sr Director Cybersecurity - GE Aerospace Research”.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will...

  • Provide day-to-day communication/network security operations and maintenance of multiple secure network infrastructures

  • Design, build, and operate network engineering solutions as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves existing technologies in compliance with established project management processes

  • Lead major project initiatives and develop configurations using expertise in routing protocols, firewalls, datacenter protocols and security requirements

  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, VOIP systems, video teleconferencing, and various other network and telecommunications components while adhering to current DISA STIG requirements

  • Troubleshoot, terminate, and/or install copper and fiber optic cabling as needed in support of network systems

  • Implement and operate networks in compliance with US government COMSEC standards and practices

  • Create/modify Microsoft Visio network diagrams

  • Adapt to changing environments and coordinate large scale implementations using available resources

  • Monitor key system metrics to identify trends and analysis using network monitoring tools

  • Research, test and implement firmware upgrades on network equipment

  • Arrange scheduled upgrades of networking equipment while adhering to enterprise outage notification and maintenance window policies

  • Assist in developing, prioritizing, planning, scheduling and implementing enterprise networking equipment tech refresh plans

  • Perform other technical and/or non-technical tasks as required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline OR a High School Diploma with minimum 1 year of industrial network administration experience

  • Expertise in routing protocols, TCP/IP protocols, security requirements and network communications.

  • Expertise with network monitoring and reporting tools and technology

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Requires understanding of DHS/DoD policies and procedures, including FIPS i99, FIPS 200, NIST 800-53, DHS 4300A SSH and other applicable policies.

  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

  • Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to have a current or active Secret Clearance with an ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be willing to travel occasionally

The base pay range for this position is 83,000 - 125,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary. This posting is expected to close on April 16, 2024
