Senior Software Engineering Manager, S/4HANA Consumer Industries Cloud
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
S/4HANA Consumer Industries Cloud (CIC) is a new business unit at SAP S/4HANA with a focus on Industry Cloud, an emerging market segment where SAP guides its customers towards evolving their industry-centric business models with new processes, tools, and business services. SAP CIC complements SAP existing Business Suite as well as helps the entire company keep pace with new market trends in Industry Cloud.
SAP S/4HANA CIC holistically targets the strategic industries Consumer Products, Retail, Wholesale, and Life Sciences. As a dedicated unit, it takes a start-up approach to developing new cloud products and brings together the product strategy and Product Management for these four industries with all the necessary cloud business functions, such as architecture, engineering, and operations along with development of cloud-native applications.

This role reports to the CTO & Head of Engineering. As a Sr. Software Engineering Manager you are expected to wear multiple hats while leveraging your prior cloud native functional expertise to drive and mentor a team day to day to reach their delivery and learning goals.
You will manage up to three agile teams that will architect, develop, test and deploy cloud native services.
You will manage and execute against delivery commitments and demand the adoption of automation, quality, and continuous delivery wherever you see the opportunity.
On a day-to-day basis, you will help manage the activities of the team within a fanatically agile scrum environment and provide functional or process support and mentorship as needed.
Manage team with respect to hiring, professional development and meeting team objectives.
Taking as-needed engineering functional responsibility or support in architecture or prototyping within feature and/or platform teams.
Being a multiplier for engineering quality by making sure that teams apply good coding practice and comply with non-functional requirements while applying automation in all aspects of the development, test and delivery processes.
Be a game changer and keep sharp on emerging technologies inside and outside SAP. Be prepared to ignore dogma and introduce innovation to processes, methodologies and technology.
Must be hands-on and able to demonstrate technical ability.
Expert knowledge demonstrated from previous engineering or research roles.
Extensive knowledge and experience with Lean & Agile software development and release processes.
Proven track record of delivering cloud native products.
Proven ability to scale cloud-native engineering teams and grow leaders within the company.
Is a multi-learner and can demonstrate from recent experience collaboration, self-improvement, ownership, focus on delivering value, and the ability to adapt to change.
5 years or more experience developing and delivering cloud native distributed software.
5 years of direct management over software engineering teams.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work and contribute to a collaborative working culture.
Knowledge of common product management, cloud unit economics, and sales practices a plus.
Knowledge of open source cloud native technologies, tools, and frameworks a plus.
Very good verbal and written English.
