Group Summary

The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Combining a deep systems knowledge to develop unique vehicle access experiences, intelligent visions systems and advanced automotive lighting technologies, MML's expertise light the path to innovation, safety and styling.

About the Role

This role will support the overall MML OpEx group - Operations/Lean/Sustainability areas and lead/guide/train divisions on systemic and reactive actions to drive towards all top5 goals and commitments on existing and new system approaches. Goal attainment within Divisions/Group/Magna is critical to our long-term success.

This is highly important work as we continue to improve several areas overall for the group operations:

  • Sustainability & Energy leadership to goals of Net Zero

  • Mafact leadership/compliance to drive to goals of Lean Manufacturing and WCM

  • Automation + MES implementations to support larger goal of Industry 4.0

Your Responsibilities

GENERAL

Sustainability & Energy:

  • Support & lead MML overall Sustainability Progress Report and all tenants contained within

  • Lead in updating data sources and followup - for energy mitigation activities / SDG tracking / Magna Global Energy Tracker

  • Update/follow up on all Magna/MML processes required

  • Follow-up with divisions on non-compliant areas and training/guiding/teaching

  • Best practice generation and supporting frequent training/guiding meetings

  • Train/drive energy projects to support MML goals

  • Advise/recommend in open discussions – ways to improve MML current systems on our path to NET ZERO

Mafact & WCM

  • Supports Group Lead and sub-regions leads, and Divisions to implement WCM/Mafact.

  • Assists in the tracking of divisional performance characteristics and developing actions with divisions.

  • Attends and helps divisions prepare for MAFACT audit assessments to ensure success.

  • Support and/or Conducts audits and provides audit calibration to Sub-regions/Divisions.

  • Leads divisions regionally in Simulation and VSM training.

  • Facilitates continuous improvement project teams to continuously improve processes and give support to areas within the organization.

  • Displays a positive approach to the continuous improvement of the group and keeps current with new products, processes, materials, and equipment technologies.

  • Leads employees through workshops designed to improve work processes to reduce cycle time, inventory, labor hours, scrap, etc. (Based upon division requests).

  • Assist in the sharing of Best Practices between Divisions – owns the Power Hour process.

  • Support as required, with division leadership to ensure consistency of MAFACT approach.

Automation & MES:

  • Participate and support all activities surrounding MML automation drive and automated census project.

  • Frequent follow up with divisions on categories on automated census.

  • Drive PowerBI improvement and training on use with divisions.

  • Highlight & support scaling opportunities with divisions & subgroups for regional opportunities.

  • Participate and support all activities as necessary on MES implementations in all divisions globally.

  • Support and follow up on current MES implementation processing.

  • Support Industry4.0 organization in MML and all activities as necessary to improve closure of actions.

  • Upholds the principles of the Magna Employee’s Charter, Magna’s Operational Principles, Magna’s Environmental Health and Safety Policy & Procedures, MML Quality Policy, Program Execution Process and Business Protocols. Must understand and respect the laws and cultures in countries which Magna conducts business & Magna compliances.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Must understand and comply the laws and cultures in countries which Magna conducts business & Magna compliances.

  • Involvement in financial matters is on a level of providing data only and/or making recommendations.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

  • No direct supervision of incumbents and/or work units/departments.

  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with Magna’s policies and applicable laws.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Ensure all safety and non-safety rules and regulations are followed.

  • Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards.

  • Review and adhere to MML’s health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, and policies.

  • Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues.

  • Understand and uphold the policies that prohibit workplace violence and harassment.

  • In addition to the above, the duties include those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act

Your preferred qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • College Diploma / University Degree in designated area / Certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Operations/Manufacturing with demonstrated knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and Sustainability/Energy improvement culture

  • PowerBI creation is an asset.

  • The majority of the job is performed in a standard office environment with minimal risk or harmful elements.
