Are you a problem solver familiar with paralegal experience that can build relationships and streamline business processes? The Law, Compliance, Business Ethics & External Affairs (LCBE) department of Prudential Financial seeks a Paralegal that will be part of a Paralegal shared service supporting attorneys in the Enterprise Litigation group.
The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver and possess strong litigation support skills, which include assisting in the drafting of documents and litigation hold orders, reviewing pleadings to confirm factual content and providing comments on such, working with internal and outside counsel in drafting responses to written discovery requests, contacting business partners to compile documents/records in support of litigation, assembling and analyzing collected data, and recording case activity in Prudential's matter management system. In addition, the candidate must ensure strong working relationships with the leaders of the Litigation organization as well as other functional Law areas, as they are the clients of the Paralegal shared service and will be key to identifying and successfully completing objectives.
The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:
Draft documents and litigation hold orders, review pleadings to confirm factual content and providing comments on such, working with legal partners in drafting responses to written discovery requests, contacting business partners to compile documents in support of litigation, assembling and analyzing collected data, and recording case activity in Prudential's matter management system.
Assist in the review of third-party civil subpoenas and requests for information, including determining the validity of the legal documents and communicating with the requesting party, internal and outside counsel, and collecting information from business partners in order to ensure appropriate responses.
Support the Data Strategy Team on the litigation hold process, including but not limited to reconciling and running reports from the litigation hold system.
Submit electronic discovery requests for data collection to the Data Strategy Team at the direction of internal and outside counsel.
Assist in the creation, maintenance, aggregation, quality control and reporting of information relating to ELG matters and risk criteria, including management of certain internal tracking databases and producing comprehensive, timely and accurate litigation management reports.
Participate in other ELG projects such as annual review of ELG Standard Operating Procedures and records management initiatives
What youll need:
A bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate or 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal or related experience in a legal setting.
Strong legal background and solid writing skills.
Ability to work well with all levels of employees, work well under pressure, work independently, take initiative and handle confidential matters. Must effectively collaborate with internal and outside counsel, and senior leaders within the organization.
Strong analytical, project management and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work under multiple ongoing and tight deadlines.
Experience with Microsoft Office O365 applications with knowledge of Excel and SharePoint.
Tech savviness, ability to learn and adapt quickly, attention to detail, and strong written and oral communications.
Itd be a plus if you had:
Corporate business law experience.
Technological experience with a matter management system (Team Connect), litigation hold system (Legal Hold Pro), and document management system (iManage).
