Job Overview:
Assists the Operation Room, Labor and Delivery Nursing Units, Emergency Room, Clinics and various other departments by processing and maintaining supplies and equipment (both sterile and unsterile) required for the care, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Responsible for decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, operation of steam and Sterrad as well as all monitoring processes .
Qualifications:
Required:
- Current National Sterile Processing Certification and 2 years of CSPD experience are required.
Preferred:
- 5 years of CRCST experience in a hospital setting or Same Day Surgery Center is preferred.

Essential Functions:
Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment
Perform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service
Perform and participate in the decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation received, which include but are not limited to instrumentation and equipment received from all units according to established standards and procedures
Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed procedure
Perform the operation of the index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners as well as manually cleaning instruments and equipment as prescribed by established standards and procedures
Inspects all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage by viewing the instruments before assembly
Uses appropriate container, wrap or pouch according to the size of the instrument or equipment
Sterilizes instruments and surgical trays by following prescribed policies and procedures
Knows how to run tests on all sterilizers, monitor and document that all parameters have been met
Use chemicals in the appropriate fashion taking into consideration the intended use of chemical as well as chemical s function: knowledge of appropriate PPE is also necessary
Participates in expediting the OR schedule by assisting the other members of the OR Team in obtaining the instruments/equipment necessary for the procedure in a timely manner Assembles and distributes case carts accurately and in a timely manner
