Safe Horizon Therapist - Counseling Center in New York, New York

Summary: The Safe Horizon Counseling Center (SHCC) is the only New York State-licensed Article 31 outpatient clinic in New York that specializes, exclusively, in the trauma-focused treatment of child and adult survivors of interpersonal violence and other forms of abuse. SHCC also functions as the mental health “hub” of Safe Horizon, the largest crime victim’s assistance agency in the country. Our main clinic is located at 50 Court Street in downtown Brooklyn, and we operate two satellites that are co-located at other Safe Horizon programs in Harlem. The Trauma Therapist position is a full-time remote position (35 hours per week) that is affiliated with our main clinic at 50 Court Street. Nearly half of SHCC’s clients are referred by one of Safe Horizon’s vast array of programs. The Trauma Therapist will receive paid training and supervision in a variety of evidence-based treatments for trauma survivors, and the client hours meet New York State’s experience requirements for LCSW licensure.Responsibilities:Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients· Coach and guide staff in their client practice that reflects these approaches· Provides time-limited, evidence-based trauma-focused individual treatment to trauma survivors of all ages· Develops and maintains expertise in the clinic’s chosen methods of treatment including TF-CBT and Seeking Safety, as well as CPP, ARC, SPARCS, and CFTSI, as assigned via telehealth· Actively participates in weekly training and group supervision sessions every Wednesday from 10:00am to 1:00pm as well as weekly individual supervision sessions· Maintains a caseload of 29 therapy clients at all times· Demonstrates exceptional engagement skills and clinical expertise in the provision of trauma-focused mental health treatment to SHCC clients (at least 60% engagement rate after 6 months)· Maintains a productivity level of 22 billable services per week (75% engagement rate)· Requests and participates in case conferences as necessary· Trauma Therapists are expected to actively engage in Safe Horizon’s agencywide Anti-Racism initiative through participation in Safe Horizon Anti-Racism training as well as identity-based anti-racism affinity spaces· Maintains timely and accurate documentation of all case activities such that it is in “audit-ready” compliance with all Safe Horizon, City, State, and Federal requirements· Because this is a remote telehealth position, Trauma Therapists are expected to maintain home computer and video technology that is HIPAA-compliant and to provide telehealth treatment from private, professional-appearing, HIPAA-compliant workspace (no stock backgrounds are permitted)· Performing other job duties as assignedQualifications:· LMSW or LCSW required· At least 1 year of expertise in delivering time-limited, evidence-based mental health treatment approaches that can be utilized with target client population· Strong interpersonal skills required and a deep understanding of and commitment to the mission of Safe Horizon and our clients· Demonstrated crisis intervention skills· Demonstrated clinical productivity AND timely regulatory compliance and documentation· All prospective job candidates must meet screening requirements, which includes a criminal background check, finger printing, and New York State Central Registry clearance.If hired, I agree to abide by all of Safe Horizon’s rules and regulations, and understand that, if employed, my employment may be terminated with or without cause, and with or without notice, at any time, at the option of either the company or me.
