SENIOR UX RESEARCHER
Reports to: Senior Product Designer
Target Start Date: November 15, 2021
Location: DoSomething.org has its headquarters in NYC. As a result of COVID-19, DoSomething staff are working fully remote. DoSomething is exploring a hybrid return to office approach with a target of fall 2021. Preferably, candidates will be based in the New York City Metro area, but candidates in other locations within the U.S. will be considered.

DoSomething is seeking a strategic, results-oriented, and seasoned Senior UX Researcher to play a key role in galvanizing DoSomething’s millions of youth members to take action on innovative and impactful programming and campaigns and activate them for sustainable and scalable social impact.
Reporting to the Senior Product Designer, the Senior UX Researcher contributes to the mission and vision of DoSomething by shaping the UX Research culture and building member empathy throughout the entire organization. This critical role will own the UX Research roadmap and create and execute research plans, utilizing UX research methodologies best suited to explore each challenge.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
UX Research (40%). Conduct UX research across the product lifecycle using various methodologies, including generative research, usability research, surveys, and analytics analysis.
Initiate and conduct research across the product lifecycle to build a stronger foundational knowledge of our members.
Generate strategic and actionable insights based on research findings.
Share research findings with the entire organization, using storytelling to build empathy and understanding.
UX Research Strategy (30%). Own the UX Research roadmap, with a youth-first approach; prioritizing inquiries from stakeholders and identifying strategic areas of focus.
Outline research plans by identifying the best UX research methodologies to explore a given problem.
Proactively partner with various teams to build in research at multiple stages of the product development process to drive new product opportunities.
Thought Leadership and Collaboration (30%). Develop a strategy for uncovering, centralizing, and sharing insights across the org for maximum impact.
Shape the UX culture, processes, and documentation at DoSomething.
Teach and codify self-service research practices for other departments by demonstrating and explaining a range of research methods.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
You have 5+ years of user research experience outlining strategic research plans based on company priorities and vision, preferably with experience.
You have proven experience with a variety of methodologies based on research needs (usability, ethnographies, surveys, interviews, diary studies).
You are proficiency UX Research Tools such as UserTesting.
You have a track record of generating actionable insights based on research findings and are able to incorporate quantitative insights into a broader view of research findings.
Your experience includes oversight and guidance of qualitative research with cross-functional teams in a lead role or primary point of contact for a company and/or product area with many stakeholders.
You have the ability to lead and motivate others and in building relationships with people both inside and outside of the organization.
You have experience making tough prioritization decisions to manage limited resources and make space for opportunities to work smarter over time.
It’s a bonus if you have research experience with young people and/or UX research in a non-profit setting.

You have strong judgment & decision making ability for analyzing problems and developing effective, viable solutions that drive t he effectiveness of the team and the organization as a whole.

JazzHR maintains secure job board pages. Job boards will default to HTTPS. Additionally, if we were to terminate our contract with JazzHR our candidate data is deleted from JazzHR’s systems in accordance with JazzHR’s Terms of Service.
