GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

As a Payroll Analyst, you will ensure we pay our employees correctly, efficiently, and on time each pay period. You will help employees, managers, and timekeepers understand payroll processes and procedures to maintain consistency and clarity. You will participate in day-to-day operational payroll tasks and support longer term projects on process improvement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Support all aspects of payroll including gross to net calculations, deductions, garnishments, general ledger posting, levies, support orders, multi-state, and withholding taxes.

  • Load payroll batches into system, review and record payroll deductions, garnishments, levy, support orders, approve direct deposits, cross team validation of data entry and meet all departmental critical deadlines.

  • Respond and prioritize various payroll inquiries with accuracy and a sense of urgency.

  • Support timekeepers, managers, and employees on time keeping best practices and policies, maintain training materials to ensure consistent and accurate time entry.

  • Process payroll biweekly and month-end billing and integrations, as well as preparation and sending payments to outside vendors.

  • Assist with preparation of monthly journal entries, review activity that posts to the ledger and assist with the annual audit requests.

  • Contribute to continuing improvements to payroll processes to increase efficiencies and semiannual enhancements to Workday payroll.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to address Workday system issues and upgrade, suggest enhancements to streamline the process minimizing manual effort.

  • Research and find creative solutions to solve payroll issues in an increasingly more complex technical environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Finance, HR or related field required or CPP or equivalent experience.

  • Three years of experience working in a high volume, in-house payroll environment,

  • Three years of timekeeping experience in a union and nonunion environment

  • Knowledge of Accounting Principles, General Ledger account classification, Core Payroll Concepts and Compliance, IRS and Department of Labor rules/compensation/benefits /disposable and take-home pay required.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Payroll/Financial/HRIS systems.

  • Experience with Workday payroll and timekeeping preferred.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of basic and advanced analytical functions in Excel.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

  • Pay Range: $80,000 - $85,000

The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.

Location Requirements

At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
