The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThe NP will play a pivotal role in the assessment and management of patients diagnosed with cancer. This role encompasses diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, all conducted under a medical collaborative agreement. Alongside our nursing team, the NP will provide exceptional, evidence-based patient care.Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and oversee patient education initiatives related to chemotherapy, blood replacement products, growth factors, and address the psychosocial concerns of patients, their families, and caregivers in the context of cancer diagnosis and the underlying disease.- Collaborate closely with the Infusion Center nurses and staff in the care and treatment of patients undergoing chemotherapy, receiving blood products, growth factors, and supportive care.- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history and physical exams, review laboratory results, order necessary tests, provide clear discharge instructions, deliver patient education, and monitor follow-up appointments.- Obtain informed consent from patients and meticulously monitor their status both before and after procedures.- Develop individualized care plans for patients, meticulously document medical history, orders, notes, and ongoing patient evaluations.- Uphold the highest standards of patient care quality and actively participate in daily rounds. Additionally, serve as a liaison to referring physicians and assist with the coordination of external transfers.- Assist physicians as directed in tasks related to patient care.- Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.Minimum Qualifications- Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, with one to two years of experience.- Current New York State Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Registered Nurse (RN) licenses, along with board certification.- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.- Excellent communication skills.Preferred Qualifications- Experience in the field of hematology and oncology.- Familiarity with the Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP) systems and procedures.Other Requirements- Participation in the medical surveillance program - Contact with patients and/or human research subjects - Wear N-95 respirator - Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirementsEqual Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
