Job Description

Position Overview: The role of a medical support assistant is to provide care and education to patients, following established standards and practices. This position involves updating patient charts in EMR systems, documenting changes, and coordinating with other members of the care team to ensure seamless care delivery. You will be responsible for maximizing coordination of efforts and ensuring active patient participation in planning and follow-up care. Additionally, you will restock, turnover, and clean rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care and education to patients following established standards and practices.

  • Update patient charts in EMR systems and document changes.

  • Coordinate with other members of the care team to ensure seamless care delivery.

  • Maximize coordination of efforts and ensure active patient participation in planning and follow-up care.

  • Restock and turnover/clean rooms.

  • Assist providers and room patients.

  • Handle customer service and patient access tasks.

  • Maintain electronic medical records.

  • Perform room turnover and clean up.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least one year of clinical experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting, or graduation from an accredited medical assistant program.

  • Proficient in medical assisting, medical terminology, and customer service.

  • Experience with electronic medical records.

  • Strong people skills and customer service abilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with at least one year of recent experience as a medical assistant.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

Work Environment

Typical working conditions may require frequent exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other substances common to a medical office environment. The role requires working in close proximity to other personnel, use of a computer keyboard throughout the workday, and may involve the use of an autoclave for instrument sterilization. You will be working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Shifts are Monday to Friday, with options of 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. The dress code requires wearing scrubs. There are no holiday or vacation benefits, but sick time is provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
