POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to theExecutive Director of Academic Strategy and Operations,the IT Academic Technology Manager will serve as Manager of the Office of Online Learning. They willoversee the development, implementation, evaluation and continuous quality improvement of online courses and programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and accessibility. This role requires a strategic leader with a passion for innovative instructional design, a commitment to student success and faculty development, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.The IT Academic Technology Manager collaborates with the School’s senior leaders in Academic Affairs, department chairs and program directors, non-teaching instructional staff and others in providing leadership and oversight to online learning activities.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Hire, train, and supervise instructional designers and multimedia producers in the Office of Online Learning.

· Lead the planning, redesign, and launch of online courses for graduate and non-credit programs, including a redesign of all core courses.

· Design and implement modern graphics and videos to be used in courses. Includes video production for lecture content.

· Ensure that online courses are accessible, engaging, and effective in meeting learning outcomes.

· Collaborate with faculty and staff to establish and integrate best practices and standards in online pedagogy and instructional design.

· Implement and monitor quality assurance processes for online courses and programs.

· Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of online offerings to ensure continuous improvement.

· Address and resolve any issues related to online course delivery and performance, including troubleshooting.

· Lead the transition from Blackboard to Brightspace/D2L learning management system (LMS).

· Oversee implementation of Simple Syllabus.

· Establish faculty requirements for training and development on instructional technologies andprovide training resources and support for faculty and staff on online teaching technologies and methodologies. Includes management and curation of Online Learning tutorials/resource website.

· Evaluate and implement new tools and platforms to enhance the online learning experience.

· Keep the school community abreastemerging trends and technologies in online education.

· Work closely with academic departments, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of online learning.

· Serves as Learning Management System Committee (LMSC) representative for CUNY SPH.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.

Preferred qualifications:

· Demonstrated experience in learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.

· Experience in multimedia design and production to ensure high quality standards and branding consistency across all courses.

· Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators.

· Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

· Knowledge of professional audio/visual equipment, Adobe Creative Cloud editing/similar multimedia design software for learning-related multimedia production.

· Experience creating tutorials and training documentation in WordPress content management system (web design).

· Previous team supervisory/management experience.

· Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.

  • Serves as project manager for the introduction of new technology and equipment

  • Manages day-to-day operations, overseeing assigned staff

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $100,329 to $110,641 per annum.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
