JPMorgan Chase Investment Banking - Family Coverage Group - Analyst in New York, New York

J.P. Morgan's IB Family Coverage Group is a coverage effort in the Commercial & Investment Bank focused on ultra-high net worth Families and Family Investment Firms. The mission is to become the trusted advisor and the preeminent provider of Investment Banking services to families, family investment firms and their portfolio companies, and to provide this important client universe the same consistent and focused Investment Banking coverage that is provided to our top corporate and financial sponsor clients.

Job Summary

The Analyst will play a central role within the Family Coverage Group in all aspects of client prospecting and coverage, idea generation and M&A, debt and equity capital markets transaction execution. In addition, the Analyst will also have an opportunity to work on transactions with the broader Strategic Investors Group (SIG) IB team. You will be a key player in the execution of the firm's business and will work with expert professionals at the heart of a leading global investment bank. The combined responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with client prospecting, including doing research on a number of families and family investment firms and understanding the nature of existing JPMorgan relationships

  • Act in a secondary coverage capacity for key focus accounts, including idea generation and client interaction/relationship building

  • Help to prepare marketing materials for meetings with clients and prospects

  • Help to prepare pitch documents for all Investment Banking products, including sell-side, buy-side, equity monetization, buy-side financing and execute mandated transactions

  • Market, structure and execute corporate finance deals, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, spin-offs and debt/equity financings

  • Develop models, consisting of financial statements and data, as well as required key outputs, using discounted cash flow, merger, accretion/dilution, leveraged buyout, comparable company, comparable transaction and sum-of-the-parts analyses

  • Significant direct interaction with senior coverage and product bankers in the Investment Bank, Private Bank and Commercial Bank

Required Qualifications, skills and capabilities

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Prior work experience in an investment banking front office, or related, role.

  • Strong accounting, finance, quantitative and business writing skills, including knowledge of corporate finance with experience in analyzing company financials

  • Understands transaction cycle and the steps in the process and is execution oriented

  • Impeccable communication details with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other line of business

  • Previous internship or full time experience in Investment Banking is a plus

  • Highly independent, proactive and entrepreneurial with strong interest in building a new business

  • Intellectual curiosity, independent research and creativity, strong work ethic/integrity/judgment and desire to learn

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity while maintaining high attention to detail

  • Very strong financial modeling/valuation and analytical skills, including DCF, LBO, trading comparables, precedent transactions, accretion/dilution, value creation analysis, financing models, three-statement models and combined pro forma models

  • Excellent technology skills with superior Excel and PowerPoint skills and ability to quickly learn new software applications

Base Pay/Salary

New York, NY $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 / year
