Job Description

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Support Services Bureau oversees the Department's Fleet (Fleet Services Division}, secures property (Property Clerk Division}, maintains and disseminates Department records (Central Records Division), and processes the printing of documents for the Department (Printing Section).

The Support Services Bureau (SSB) is seeking an Executive Director, Support Services who will report to the Deputy Commissioner of Support Services Bureau. The Executive Director will coordinate and advance the work of SSB; serve as a trusted advisor to the Deputy Commissioner of SSB; and represent executive leadership in delegated projects and initiatives designed to achieve the Department and Bureau's priorities and objectives. Reporting directly to the Deputy Commissioner of SSB, the Executive Director will be responsible for the following:

  1. Participate in high priority projects and initiatives designed to achieve the Department and Bureau' s mission; build and maintain successful working relationships and coordinate with a wide range of offices, staff, and stakeholders, internal and external to the Department.

  2. Ensure that matters requiring the attention of the DC, SSB are thoroughly developed, researched and evaluated; and respond to routine inquiries for the DC, SSB where appropriate and necessary.

  3. Anticipate, identify, and troubleshoot issues of concern or significance; exercise discretion to provide timely information and necessary updates.

  4. Develop operating reports detailing Department statistics, activity, performance, fleet performance metrics

  5. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the DC, SSB.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

5+ years of supervisory experience

Knowledge of NYC Policies and Procedures.

Critical thinking skills, adept at problem solving, identifying trends and able to multi-task.

In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three years full- time satisfactory professional experience related to the projects and policies to be studied in the particular position, including eighteen months of experience in a managerial, consultative, administrative or supervisory capacity.

  2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above; however, all candidates must possess eighteen months of experience in a managerial, consultative, administrative or supervisory capacity as described above.

Salary Min: $ 91,090.00

Salary Max: $235,036.00
