Overview

The Director of Credit Policy and Governance is responsible for serving as the subject matter expert on credit governance and establishing and maintaining Credit policy and governance standards across the First Citizens Bank enterprise. This role will report to the Senior Director of Credit Policy and Governance. This position will own the development, maintenance, implementation, and consistency of credit policies in conjunction with first- and second-line subject matter experts. This position requires a thorough understanding of credit policies, practices, and procedures, and a high-level understanding of the complex lines of business and regulatory requirements of a Category IV Large Financial Institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing credit policy and the related documentation stack, and to ensure these items are maintained concurrent with changing business practices, acquisitions, and changes to applicable regulations. This role will be expected to lead interactions with key stakeholders across the first, second, and third lines of defense enterprise wide as well as with regulators and external auditors. In addition, this role will be expected to direct a small team focused on policy integration and consolidation, procedural documentation, and preparing governance documentation. The role will also be involved in the various governance forums, preparation of materials, presentations related to areas managed, and other various projects across Credit Administration.


Responsibilities

Managerial Functions:


* Manages and guides direct reports ensuring accuracy of work, process improvements and efficiencies. Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and team goals. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes team achievements by providing professional development.

Coordination & Delivery:


* Govern and manage policy, standard, and procedure change management including drafting, reviews, implementation, and communication.
* Serve as lead to ensure compliance with regulations are embedded; assess strength of policies, procedures, process and supporting documentation, as well as rationalize policy for simplicity and scalability following acquisitions.
* Coordinate resources with direct and indirect reporting relationships to execute on various projects and efficiency initiatives related to Credit policy, governance, and regulatory guidance.
* Coordinate communications and deliverables as required for Credit related regulatory exams/audits and requests.
* Manage the tracking, monitoring, presentation materials and reporting of policy and procedure changes at the programmatic level.
* Build healthy cross-functional relationships among various departments to achieve alignment in timelines, deliverables, and anticipated results.


Quality Control:


* Provides quarterly reporting to Credit Risk Committee concerning insights and activities. Establishes and leads review program for policies, procedures, and credit governance meetings.
* Collaborate with bank leaders to design or enhance policies and procedures that strike the right balances between consistent adherence to risk tolerance, consistency in documentation, efficiency, and risk mitigation.


Business Strategy:


* Maintains current knowledge of developments in the banking industry to keep staff informed of applicable practices and regulations. Monitors significant trends to determine if policy or strategic changes need to be made and implemented.
* Analyze key upcoming regulatory guidance to assess level of compliance with current practice.

The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally from $ 218,804.00 to $ 296,029.00 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay. Qualifications
    Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Credit Risk Management or Analytics in the Financial Services industry and management OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Credit Risk Management or Analytics in the Financial Services industry and management
    Skill(s): Broad knowledge of banking industry, laws and regulations, Knowledge of accounting and financial principles
