JPMorgan Chase Corporate Governance Analyst in New York, New York

The Corporate Governance team is part of the Corporate Legal Practice Group. This highly visible team supports the Firm's Board of Directors and is responsible for the coordination of Board meetings and materials, proxy statement and the Firm's Annual Meeting of Shareholders. We also have primary responsibility for the Board's Corporate Governance & Nominating Committee, interface regularly with shareholders and provide legal advice on various corporate governance matters. We partner with senior management across the Firm's lines of business and corporate functions to promote effective governance of the Firm.

As a Corporate Governance Analyst within the Corporate Governance practice group, you will partner with senior members of the team on a variety of corporate governance matters including collaborating with stakeholders to prepare the highest quality presentation materials for the Board of Directors and its committees, senior executives and senior attorneys, assist with plans for the Firm's annual meeting of shareholders, perform research and analyze data. The role includes interaction with various executive-level internal clients across lines of business and corporate functions, and offers significant opportunities for learning and professional development.

Job responsibilities

  • Support senior members of the team in preparing presentations and materials for the Board of Directors and its standing Committees

  • Assist in planning the Firm's Annual Meeting of Shareholders

  • Help prepare the Firm's proxy statement

  • Research industry trends, benchmarking data and historical matters related to corporate governance and analyze relevant data

  • Provide support to senior attorneys for projects involving the Legal Department's priorities, the Firm's subsidiaries, and JPMorgan Chase generally

  • Work with senior attorneys on various industry initiatives to consider best corporate governance practices for public companies and the banking industry

  • Identify ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Corporate Governance team, including actively contributing and participating in working groups related to the team's projects

  • Provide ongoing administrative support to senior attorneys including scheduling meetings and shareholder engagements, logistics, coordination and management of certain projects, managing travel schedules, developing and maintaining electronic files, and proofreading.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a professional services role, such as a business analyst, paralegal, researcher, writer, or clerk.

  • Execution and organizational skills - Well-developed organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Able to quickly and effectively respond to rapidly changing business needs and urgent requests. Must have strong attention to detail, be proactive, and results-oriented. Strong time management and follow-up skills; flexibility, ability to prioritize requests and multi-task

  • Communications skills - Must possess strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to present updates, requests, ideas and other communications in a professional, clear and concise manner. Proactively provide timely updates while working on projects/tasks

  • Problem solving skills - Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities coupled with the ability to identify and escalate issues.

  • Technical and analytical skills - Must be highly proficient with Excel and PowerPoint, as well as other Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook). Able to prepare high quality, error free presentation materials and other work product, sometimes under time pressure.

  • Interpersonal skills - Able to work independently and as part of a team, exercise good judgment and discretion, and maintain confidentiality of information.
