The Durst Organization Compliance Coordinator in New York, New York

The Compliance Coordinator will work closely with our Director of Residential Compliance to help with operations and oversight of the Residential Compliance team. The Compliance Coordinator has the primary responsibility of the qualification of new residents for occupancy and the annual recertification process as it relates to Low Income Housing Tax Credit, 421-a, Rent Stabilization, Affirmative Fair Housing, State and City Regulatory guidelines. This responsibility requires great organization, attention to detail and time management skills.

• Maintain multiple property waiting list

• Coordinate and conduct applicant eligibility appointments

• Coordinate lottery and rent-up activities in accordance with compliance agencies

• Coordinate annual data collection and processing of resident information

• Coordinate and conduct annual resident recertification appointments

• Ensure proper calculation of income, assets, rent levels, etc. to determine eligibility

• Conduct annual apartment inspections

• Maintain resident files in accordance with company policy & regulatory agency policy

• Generate and review initial leases and lease renewals to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines

• Assist residents and applicants with inquiries and questions regarding Affordable Housing Program compliance and availability

• Assist with DHCR Initial and Annual Apartment Registrations

• Serve as a resource, advocate, and catalyst for sustainability at The Durst Organization. Apply the skills unique to your core job responsibilities for practical integration of sustainability into processes, standard operating procedures, and adopted business practices. Seek to empower our colleagues, consultants, tenants and residents to prioritize and actively engage in environmental stewardship

• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

• 3+ years’ experience in a position with similar responsibilities

• Effective oral and written communication

• Strong knowledge of LIHTC, Rent Stabilization, and Section 8

• Licenses/Certifications: COS, SCS, or TaCCs

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
