What You ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate, Product Control will contribute to the US Finance team by collaborating with Finance and Wholesale Bank personnel, as well as partnering with other infrastructure groups on various initiatives, including global projects. This role will provide analytical and initiative support to the Wholesale Bank and Treasury businesses in the US.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Produce Daily P&L Reports : Ensure accuracy of Daily P&L reports for Capital Markets and Treasury businesses, including analysis of revenue and fluctuations.

  • Month-End Reconciliation : Reconcile Daily P&L with actual results and ensure completeness and accuracy of month-end and quarter-end reporting.

  • Independent Price Verification (IPV) : Review and communicate IPV results to stakeholders and manage the sign-off process.

  • Accounting Compliance : Ensure reporting is in line with IFRS and US GAAP; reconcile balance sheets and income statements, and resolve outstanding issues.

  • Process Improvements : Continuously seek opportunities to automate and improve processes; maintain and update procedures and documentation.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with Front Office, Risk, Technology, and other teams to resolve issues and contribute to new product onboarding and strategic initiatives.

Who You Are

  • Educational Background: Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, or Accounting, complemented by 3-5 years of relevant business experience.

  • Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly IFRS and US GAAP, with the ability to ensure compliance in financial reporting and reconciliation processes.

  • Capital Markets and Treasury Products: In-depth experience with a broad range of Capital Markets products, including but not limited to Fixed Income, Margin Lending, Securities Lending, Options, Futures, and Derivatives. Familiarity with Treasury operations and financial instruments is essential.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data and assess the implications on accounting and reporting, ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial statements.

  • Multi-Perspective Analysis: Capacity to view issues from various perspectives (Line of Business, Legal Entity, Product, Source System, etc.) to provide comprehensive insights and solutions.

  • Organizational Skills : Well-developed organizational and prioritization skills to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills to develop and maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders across Front Office, Risk Management, Technology, and Finance.

  • Team Player: Self-motivated team player with a flexible approach to problem-solving and a commitment to achieving team objectives.

  • Leadership Qualities: Strong leadership skills are advantageous, with the ability to guide and mentor junior team members.

  • Responsibility and Pressure Management: Ability to accept responsibility and work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

  • Control Orientation: Detail-oriented with a thorough and analytical approach to financial processes and controls.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, along with experience in automation tools such as Alteryx and Power BI. Ability to work with and manipulate large datasets from multiple sources, leveraging these tools to enhance reporting and analysis efficiency.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $113,000.00 - $150,000.00 for the New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component .
