Description
Callen-Lorde Community Health Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Director of Psychiatry. This role involves supporting the Chief Behavioral Health Officer (CBHO) in addressing the behavioral health needs of the LGBTQ community and individuals living with HIV, ensuring compliance with OMH, DOH, HRSA, and OASAS regulations. The Associate Director will provide collaborative oversight of clinic operations, directly deliver psychiatric care, and supervise a team of clinicians. As an Associate Director of Psychiatry, your responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with the CBHO to oversee psychiatry services for Callen-Lorde’s patients and the community.
Provide direct clinical psychiatry services, including assessments, follow-ups, and psychopharmacological management.
Supervise and support a designated number of psychiatric staff, including MDs and NPs.
Offer psychiatry consultations to clinical and non-clinical staff, respond to e-consults, attend clinical meetings, and provide real-time consultations.
Serve as a subject matter expert internally and externally, and participate in the HIT Core Team to enhance EHR functionality and efficiency for psychiatry providers.
Oversee substance use/dual diagnosis concerns, collaborating with the Substance Use Services and Supports team to enhance substance use treatment support.

Qualifications
New York State Certification/Licensure and current New York State Registration (MD/DO) required
Board Certification in Psychiatry required
Experience working in an NYS Article 28 or 31 clinics required
3+ years of management experience
5+ years of experience providing direct psychiatric services
Experience working in a health care, behavioral health, HIV, and/or social services setting, including knowledge of regulatory oversight of OMH and DOH licensed settings.
Experience with treating special substance use concerns of dually diagnosed LGBTQ+ persons.
Extensive experience with LGBTQ+ communities and people living with HIV.

Demonstrated commitment to providing sensitive, culturally competent psychiatric care to LGBTQ persons and persons living with HIV, especially disenfranchised/underserved populations and people of color
Innovative, strengths-based approaches to working with acute and chronic behavioral health issues in an outpatient setting with demonstrated skill in reducing occurrence of inpatient hospital stays
Demonstrated commitment to collaborative, team-based behavioral health treatment, valuing the input and perspective of the full array of behavioral health professionals
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and participate in the coordination of care across multiple clinical teams
Demonstrated ability working with trainees and educating multidisciplinary staff preferred
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
