Position Summary
The Office of Student Affairs at Columbia Business School (CBS) supports the academic and community experience for MBA, Executive MBA and MS students by creating an inclusive environment in which all students feel a sense of belonging, agency and partnership in co-creating their optimal student experience. The Office of Student Affairs is composed of four teams that work collaboratively to enhance the student experience: Academic Advising and Student Success, Student Life and Engagement, Programs and Events, and Operations and Student Services.
Reporting to the Director, Operations & Student Services, the Assistant Director of Operations and Student Services oversees and supports the development and management of the degree programs, with special emphasis on operations and faculty support, International Seminar Administration, and catering management for class days.
Responsibilities
- Assists team with the delivery of approximately 7-10 EMBA International Seminars annually, working with vendors to develop and secure contracts amenable to EMBA program's operational and budgetary needs; works with faculty to draft and finalize schedules and company visits/guest speakers; and communicates logistics and scheduling to students.
- Plans catering for all EMBA Programs, including block week courses, outlines the schedule for each meal/break and communicates with the appropriate vendors to arrange for delivery, and follows up with any changes and feedback.
- Updates the operations and finance sections of the admitted student websites and to-do lists for incoming classes; purchase, reproduction, collation, shipment, and inventory management of textbooks, casebooks, software packages, and other course materials for all EMBA-NY courses each term and, as necessary, for specific terms in EMBA-Global programs; off-site residence programs; requests for videotaping and class-capturing of review sessions and classes as needed.
- Tracks spending of catering budget and ensures School resources and budget are used appropriately while providing a seamless student experience;
- Interacts with faculty and auxiliary offices at the Business School on requirements and operating details of the EMBA New York and the EMBA-Global programs. This includes working on campus on weekends and evenings and at offsite programs, as needed.
- Performs other duties and supports program activities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 2-4 years related experience required.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary.
- Must have demonstrated outstanding organizational abilities and possess a professional presentation.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and work with changing priorities in a high volume, customer-oriented environment. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets required.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in an academic setting preferred. Database skills and experience helpful.
