Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience with software development in Python or Java.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • Experience with backend services, and test automation.

  • Ability to define software architecture, components, modules, interfaces, and data for a system for specified requirements, this includes validating for correctness, functionality, reliability, and other characteristics.

  • Ability to debug, triage, and fix program code or system issues (e.g., firmware, software, application, operational, process).

The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

  • Design and develop tooling and infrastructure in collaboration with others, often researching part of the problem to suggest alternatives.

  • Execute subtasks within the scope of a larger project e.g., analysis, metrics, releases, documentation.

  • Select appropriate approach from clear options to address technical challenges, with guidance.

  • Generate the ideas required to solve technical problems and take full ownership of the solution.

  • Build working collaborations with cross-functional peers. Identify and share opportunities and technical context that inform cross-functional efforts.
