The Enterprise Communications function at Ochsner Health is dedicated to delivering exceptional communications strategy, consultation and support for the 40,000+ healthcare professionals who put our patients first every day across Ochsner’s 46 hospitals and more than 370 health and urgent care centers. System Communications is a critical component of Ochsner’s dynamic Enterprise Communications team, which is responsible for building, growing, and protecting Ochsner’s reputation in a way that shapes the external environment and nurtures internal culture and the successful fulfillment of the organization’s strategic plan.
The Enterprise Communications Specialist is a key team member providing essential support to internal clients and the communications function in the advancement of organizational strategy, operational and behavioral change, and connection and culture across Ochsner’s employee audiences. The specialist works closely with the Enterprise Communications team and assigned departments and functions to deliver consistent messaging, implement communications plans and track initiatives. Through communications skill, sound recommendations, innovative thinking and the highest degree of accuracy and attention to detail, the specialist builds trusted relationships with clients and peers, delivering content that helps to build culture, deepen engagement and equip teams to fulfill Ochsner’s strategic objectives.
Education
Required- Bachelor's degree in Corporate Communications, Public Relations/Journalism, English or a related degree Healthcare communications experience is preferred but not required.
Work Experience
Required - 3-5 years related experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with an ability to translate complex topics into understandable communications.
Ability to present information confidently and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills with a strong collaborative mindset.
Experience and proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.Prefer candidates with demonstrated experience working in content management systems.
Job Duties
Develops small to mid-level communications plans and contributes to larger communications initiatives at the direction of team leadership.
Executesinternal communications tactics including email messages, online articles, talking points, Powerpoint slides, video scripts and internal social media poststo support employee groups including individual contributors, nurses, physicians, leaders and others.
Ensures content accuracy and obtains executive and senior leadership approval before publishing to the appropriate channels.
Routinely works within thesystem communicationscontent management platform to build, position and deploy messages to the right audience at the right time and in the most compelling way.
Overseesvarious aspects of planning, creative concept development, execution, and tracking for communications.
Monitors and measures content effectiveness and audience response.
Works with leadership to identify emerging internal issues or opportunities so that internal communications can be developed to address or take advantage of them.
Proactively stays abreast of emerging trends, best practices and technologies for optimizing communications to inspire engagement with content and achieve desired outcomes.
Supports the Enterprise Communications team with special projects, events, and strategies as needed.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized.
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
