POSITION SUMMARY:

The Property Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, monthly and end-of-the-year tasks, and other accounting duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for completing all property accounting functions
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Record monthly adjusting and accrual entries; Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger; Review periodic reports of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and correct errors before the close of the accounting period
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements/reporting packages
  • Coordinate with property managers on tenant ledger adjustments, payables, and various other requests
  • Act as the primary point of contact for accounting-related questions from both internal property managers and external clients
  • Attend owner meetings, as necessary
  • Assist management with audit requests and special projects; and other tasks as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Accrual basis accounting experience, a plus
  • Property accounting experience, a plus
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
