Summary

As a 3D Production Designer, you'll transform creative concepts into precise technical drawings for live experiences, including events, environments, and exhibits. You'll play a crucial role within a multidisciplinary team of account managers, designers, and production staff to influence cost estimating, inventory management, and production detailing. This role will efficiently manage its workload to ensure quality and timely completion, often on multiple projects simultaneously. This position is instrumental in shaping events of all scales, from intimate conferences to expansive trade shows, ensuring that each element reflects our commitment to excellence.

This position will support our Design team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office 1-2 days per week. The ideal candidate will be based out of any of the following locations:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design Translation: Partner with environmental designers to translate design concepts - in a strategically viable and technologically feasible way - into technical drawings.

  • Design Development: Develop design collection projects into technical drawings.

  • Collaboration: Engage with various internal teams and clients, providing technical input during design sessions and meetings.

  • Material Review: Examine all provided materials, such as brand standards, style guides, and design concepts, and discuss project aspects like budget and design approach with relevant team members.

  • Structural Realization: Understand design intent and implement the structural aspect of design language, ensuring the technical design is feasible and aligns with detailing and production processes.

  • Quality Control: Take full responsibility for the technical design’s quality, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and adherence to timelines.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive CAD files and well-documented design collateral.

  • Presentation & Iteration: Present technical designs for approval, manage revisions, and resubmit as needed in an iterative process.

  • Expertise: Stay informed about Freeman’s software toolsets, build systems, production trends, industry standards and best practices.

  • Work Schedule: We value dedication during our peak periods. Overtime hours can be expected and are compensated appropriately, per our company policy and legal standards.

  • Additional Duties: Fulfill any other assigned tasks as required.

Education & Experience

  • Candidates from an accredited degree program, including mechanical or architectural drafting, are preferred, yet we recognize the value of diverse professional experiences.   • Demonstrated expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with a strong portfolio showcasing technical and tactical design solutions.

  • Possess functional knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite. While expertise is optional, familiarity with these tools will be essential for executing some design tasks effectively.
