Robert Half VP/Director of Finance in New Haven, Connecticut

FP& A role with a non-profit organization in the New Haven area!

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting the annual budget process by engaging colleagues and forming workgroups across various departments to obtain input and build department-specific budgets.

• Creating and maintaining monthly budget-to-actual analyses and forecasts.

• Developing tracking and forecasting reports to regularly present to department budget owners to ensure adherence to budget.

• Adhering to financial policies and month close timelines.

• Monitoring and reconciling financial activity using multiple systems.

• Providing preparation support as needed for monthly finance committee and board of directors meetings.

• Creating models to provide timely ad hoc analysis, including pro forma modeling.

• Understanding the company’s grant universe (Federal, State, and private), including grant cycles, funder agreements, restrictions and compliance with spend and reporting requirements.

• Partnering with various grant leads and respective senior leadership to create grant budgets throughout the year per organization strategy and needs.

• Working with the Grants Manager on progress and financial analysis and report reconciliation, including grant billing, drawdown, and expense reports.

• Maintaining close oversight of grants, including allocations and time/effort reporting. Forecast and assess progress, proactively report on financial implications and suggest recommendations for action, including re-budgeting.

• Performing other financial-related tasks as required.

Requirements

• Must have a proven track record in a VP/Director of Finance role or similar

• 5+ years of FP& A experience as well as 2+ years of grant reporting

• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting and forecasting

• Proficiency in financial forecasting and modeling

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Ability to strategize and solve problems

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity

• Must hold a degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
