Behavior Specialist Assistant

Responsible To: Activity and Behavior Specialist

Pay Rate: $28.00/hr

Responsibilities and Duties:

Generally work Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm. May need to adjust schedule periodically to meet programmatic needs, i.e. staff meetings, trainings, behavior observations outside of typical work day.

Participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotation as needed.

Visit each Gan Kavod house at least weekly.

Provide weekly behavior focused educational sessions for groups at each house.

Provide behavior focused educational sessions for individuals as needed.

Evaluate behavioral health concerns of individuals being served.

Compile and review behavior related data on a regular basis, including inputting data into resident records.

Complete required documentation.

Complete behavior-based assessments, including direct observation of individuals being served, as needed.

Provide support to individuals receiving services and to staff as needed.

Assist with development, training, and implementation of behavior support plans with direct care staff, treatment team, individuals served, and families.

Assist with developing training curriculum and provide training on a variety of behavioral health topics for new staff orientation, annual training, and as needed throughout the year.

Model positive behavior support through direct engagement with individuals being served, this may include providing personal care and assisting with the individual's environment through tasks such as cleaning or cooking.

Maintain ongoing communication with residential staff to ensure behavior support plans and recommendations are in place and consistently followed.

Provide data for psychiatric consults as needed.

Participate in treatment team meetings.

Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and agency policies and procedures, training staff as needed

Facilitate and monitor crisis intervention and prevention as needed, up to and including physical interventions when needed to de-escalate concerning behavior.

Have or be willing to attain SCIP-R instructor status; assist with annual SCIP-R trainings.

Promote proactive interventions through assisting and encouraging individuals receiving services to be active in their home and the community.

Attend staff meetings as needed.

Meet with Activity and Behavior Specialist at least weekly, more often as needed.

Participate either by attendance at or written communication prior to individual program planning meetings for each individual served.

Participate in program development at Gan Kavod.

Maintain confidentiality of employee and resident related information in accordance with HIPPA/Hi-Tech requirements.

This job includes physical demands such as pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, bending, stretching.

Perform duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws.

Perform any other related duties as assigned by Program Director, Assistant Program Director, or designee.

Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree in psychology or a related field such as behavior science, social work, counseling, or education. Experience working in an educational or residential setting with individuals with developmental disabilities, older adults, or individuals who are medically complex is preferred.
