Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to operate and set up various machines including mills, lathes, and other specialized equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, using measuring instruments, and performing machine setups. Responsibilities

  • Operate machines, read blueprints, and use measuring instruments.

  • Set up machines as required, including loading programs and ensuring machines are dialed in and dimensionally correct.

  • Run production parts, perform inspections, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.

  • Keep track of production counts, scrap, and tool breaks, and report any issues to team leads.

  • Meet performance metrics and work towards standard run times with support and training.

  • Communicate effectively with team leads and other team members.

  • Check for tool wear, replace tools as needed, and maintain machine accuracy.

  • Work with G&M code, Fanuc controls, and mostly 3-4 axis mills and lathes.

  • Hold tolerances between +/- .2 and +/- .0005 while working mostly with steel and aluminum.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of CNC experience and machine setup.

  • Ability to understand programs, perform changeovers, and touch off tools.

  • Proficiency with standard measuring tools such as micrometers, drop gauges, and indicators.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CMM experience is helpful but not required.

  • Strong attention to detail and a good attitude.

  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.

  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.

Work Environment

The shop floor is clean and organized, with a total of 160 employees on the shop floor and 200 in the facility. The standard schedule is 1st shift from 7:00am-3:30pm, with all training conducted on the 1st shift. There may be some flexibility in shifts depending on need.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Hartford, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
