Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Assistant - Part-Time/Temporary (KDI) for the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Graduate Student Services and the Assistant Dean for Academic Administration, the KDI-EJB Scholar Program Assistant supports the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, its international programs, and staff with the arrival, orientation, and graduation of program students and their families as well as others from international graduate programs developed.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Advises and supports international graduate student populations with respect to their special needs (visas, CPT/OPT, documentation, housing, airport pickup and support, assimilation, bank accounts, motor vehicle agency visits, shopping trips, and arrival orientations and graduations.)
  • Works with staff to implement a pre-programmed set of activities offered by the school during pre and post-arrival.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of an academic environment is strongly preferred.
  • One year combined experience in counseling or advising students.
  • Experience with international students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of word processing, database software, Microsoft Excel, Internet (social media), and email.
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Hours may vary during the day, evening, and/or weekends, and the candidate must remain flexible-temporary position running from October 1 to March 1 for 6 months.
  • Hours vary, being minimal at the start and up to 30 hours per week at the height of the orientation program weeks.
