Quality Engineer

Description

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for product and process quality through implementing and maintaining Quality Assurance Programs & Plans, an ISO 9001 Quality Management System, and leading/facilitating data driven process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor inspection/testing processes and data results in order to assure compliance of the finished products to specifications and applicable quality standards.

  • Support manufacturing with quality services including process control planning, auditing, capability studies, process FMEAs, customer communication and correspondence and other issues, as required.

  • Analyze and evaluate new or existing manufacturing processes with the objective of reducing or eliminating variation through applying statistics techniques.

  • Supplier Quality Management: supplier qualification, review and define product and customer flow-down requirements to Suppliers; and work with key suppliers to drive improvement in quality, cost, and schedule

  • Interact with all CD Aero functions to lead continuous improvement efforts and develop process controls within the complete business value stream to assure compliance with all established quality standards and specifications.

  • Develop validation protocols with Operations to support key customer requirements via the following: Installation Qualification, Performance Qualification, and Operational Qualification plans

  • Establish and maintain quality plans, inspection plans, and inspection results.

  • Perform internal and external unit failure analysis, report results and identify appropriate corrective actions.

  • Monitor key supplier performance with Purchasing, conduct supplier audits, and lead up continuous improvement initiatives in the supply chain

  • Perform quality-related training on QMS processes, continuous improvement tools and methods

  • Will provide direction and guidance to quality technicians and/or inspectors, as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Must possess strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Mircrosoft products preferred. Working knowledge of JMP, Minitab or other statistical software.

  • Must possess excellent communication (oral/written), organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

  • Ability to travel to suppliers in the US and internationally: approximately 15% travel.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business journals and standards. Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and to respond to questions from managers and customers.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Strong working knowledge of statistics, S.P.C., and D.O.E.

  • Ability to lead change efforts and lead teams in continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Read and Understand the Quality System, Quality Manual, and the Quality Procedures.

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is targeted to be between $75,000 to $85,000 per year.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining us, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.
