The Position

Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.

The Department of Taxation is seeking to fill a Management Analyst 3 position located in Carson City. This position will serve as the manager of the Department's Executive Review Section and Boards and Commissions. This section is responsible for managing, tracking, reporting, analyzing, and coordinating all cases and matters requiring executive, legal, and judicial review. The position supervises one Administrative Assistant 4 and one Program Officer 2. The incumbent supervises and assists with tracking, reporting, and monitoring petitions for redeterminations and appeals/hearings of multiple tax types and performs adjustments within the Department's software tracking system in accordance with decisions of the Executive Team, Administrative Law Judges and the Nevada Tax Commission, and matters on judicial review. The incumbent is also charged with supervising the tracking of all cases that have been forwarded to the Administrative Law Judge, Tax Commission, State Board of Equalization, and judicial courts in contested cases and other matters and further coordinates all legal matters with the Attorney General's Office. The incumbent reviews all materials to be presented to the Nevada Tax Commission for accuracy and corresponds with taxpayers, attorneys, representatives, and other staff on all issues post-audit under Executive Review; including settlement agreements.

To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience which included budgeting, accounting, and/or economic or management analysis and projections; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint-based background check as a condition of appointment and as condition of continuing employment.
