APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY - $46,207.44 to $67,296.24 PAY GRADE: 27

The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking an Administrative Assistant 3 for the Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC) a 60-bed staff secure facility for male youth aged 12 to 18 located in Elko. Administrative Assistant 3 at NYTC is responsible for various office tasks such as managing office supplies, ensuring monthly reports are submitted within allotted timeframes, updating/creating spreadsheets, completing new youth intake procedures, supporting Human Resource tasks, and other duties as assigned. This position will supervise some of the other Administrative Assistants including evaluating their work performance and reviewing and assigning work such as completing data compilations, filing and organizing youth files, and assisting in procedures of new intakes. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

Additional Position Criteria

This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
