Position Summary/Description:

The Environmental Finance Center ( EFC ) works to enhance the ability of governments and other organizations to provide environmental programs and services (e.g. water, storm water, etc.) in effective and financially sustainable ways. The EFC works exclusively on high impact public service work to guide and educate practitioners and policymakers who are responsible for managing environmental programs and services. EFC influences thousands of local communities through interactive training, direct assistance and advising, applied research, and innovative information dissemination. The Executive Director (ED) will lead and oversee all activities related to strategic planning, project delivery, business development, budgeting, financing, and personnel administration at the Environmental Finance Center ( EFC ). This role includes primary responsibility for designing, securing funding for, and implementing various EFC programs. Additionally, the ED will manage EFC staff to ensure successful project completion.

Education and Experience:

-Knowledge of local government finance/environmental finance

-Knowledge of key players/partners in the environmental finance sector (e.g., in NC or R4)

-Experience working with underserved EJ Communities (Environmental Justice Population)

-Familiarity with working in a university setting

-Experience writing grant proposals

Essential Skills:

-Work is centered in Chapel Hill, but requires travel and consultation around the state and beyond.

-Experience working with federal grants

-Experience supervising and managing a team

-Experience working at a leadership level within a non-profit or governmental organization
