Reporting to the Site Leader Hach Nazareth, the Production and Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, stability, and continuous improvement of production processes while maintaining high-quality standards. This function provides daily technical support for production processes, products, equipment, and materials, driving continuous improvement to achieve strategic goals in Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost.
This role will lead Lean/Six Sigma and Kaizen initiatives, identify breakthrough opportunities, and equip teams with the necessary resources to optimize operations. Additionally, this function will oversee quality programs, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and company requirements while proactively improving quality processes and products.
By fostering our VES culture focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and team development, this role contributes to smooth business growth, regulatory compliance, and long-term organizational success.
This position is part of Hach Integrated Systems (department) located in Nazareth, Belgium and will be hybrid.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
Process & Quality Optimization – Analyze and improve operational performance, uptime, and efficiency using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Ensure production flow meets quality standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives through root cause analysis and corrective actions while minimizing production downtime.
Quality Management & Compliance – Implement, maintain, and improve the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Lead internal and external audits, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and support EHS initiatives in production processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Problem-Solving – Work closely with Production, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, and R&D to enhance manufacturability, troubleshoot production and quality issues, and implement structured problem-solving approaches.
Training & Quality Awareness – Develop and conduct training sessions on quality management, standard operating procedures, and problem-solving techniques. Promote a culture of quality awareness across production teams and ensure adherence to inspection and testing requirements.
Supplier & Equipment Management – Oversee supplier quality through audits and defect resolution. Evaluate new equipment, materials, and processes for reliability, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Education & Experience – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or manufacturing field, with 5-10 years of experience in a similar role, including at least 2 years in a production environment.
Technical & Quality Expertise – Strong knowledge of production processes, quality principles, and tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, experimental design, control charts). Experience with ISO9001 implementation and management. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is a plus.
Skills & Competencies – Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and organizational skills. Proficient in time and project management, with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving under production pressures.
Digital & Reporting Abilities – Strong computer skills, including work processing, spreadsheets, graphs, and statistical tools for data analysis and reporting.
Continuous Improvement & Adaptability – Self-motivated with a drive for innovation, continuous learning, and process improvements. Capable of effectively collaborating across all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
Language Proficiency – Good command of English, especially in technical contexts.
