Responsibilities You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with responsibility for providing technical assistance onboard US Navy ships, functional checks, and material condition assessment of compressed air systems. You will perform special engineering analyses and studies in support of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT) and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to evaluate maintenance procedures, material readiness conditions, etc. You will prioritize work, resolve conflict, attend and participate in briefings. You will review compressed air systems maintenance procedures, assess material condition, and provide recommendations. You will resolve identified problems with overall system operation and documentation. You will have a primary responsibility of familiarizing ship's force compressed air systems operations providing maintenance personnel technical solutions in troubleshooting finding, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing engineering disciplines (such as electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, structural, etc.) by providing and resolving shipboard system problems to ensure efficiencies on subsystems. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position requires rotating shift work. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
