Summary You will serve as a STAFF ASSISTANT in the SUPPORT DIVISION, J1 of JOINT FORCES COMMAND NORFOLK. Responsibilities You will prepare, arrange administrative support to divisions in the Support directorate. You will make recommendations to resolve conventional problems and situations in work-flow, work distributions, organizational structure, and/or administrations. You will spearhead one-time projects relative to administrative procedures to find ways and means to improve office procedures. You will review regulations, manuals and guides for consistency with local policy and maintain regulations. You will collect, compile, input, and participate in evaluating information and data to be included in briefing documents and reports. You will maintain up-to-date information on planned and scheduled objectives and tracks accomplishment against goals. You will provide reception by phone or in person; refer messages; open and distribute mail; schedule conference rooms. You will compose routine correspondence for the signature of Deputy Chief of Staff. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying administrative practices and procedures to perform functions such as record management, travel, leave, reports control and supply. Experience gathering data for inclusion in recommendations and preparation of reports. Experience resolving administrative issues by using analytical and evaluative techniques. Experience providing administrative services associated with Office travel. Experience using a variety of office automation products such as Microsoft Word, Access, Office Power Point and other web-based application to perform various administrative duties. Experience collecting, compiling and coordinating information from a variety of sources for use in portions of reports, manuals or directives. Experience communicating both verbally and in writing in order to provide and request information, and explain conclusions and recommendations.
