Job Summary and Qualifications
The Flight Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during the transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic partners with firefighters and police in evaluating the situation. The Paramedic offers basic and advanced life saving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering patient care consistent with training and level of certification. The flight paramedic is responsible for delivering the highest standard of clinical care in a transport environment. This role is one part of a multi-disciplinary team functioning in typical and austere clinical environments to produce safe, efficient and successful outcomes for patients and team members.
What you will do in this role:
Acquire, maintain and grow skill sets in all aspects of emergency and critical care transport medicine
Acquire and maintain practical knowledge of applicable FAA and DOT standards pertaining to the medical transport environment
Actively participate in transport briefings and debriefings, as well as crew resource management, with all team members, seeking to maintain safety, clinical excellence and process improvement
Participate in internal and external education programs and public relations functions
Maintain a constant “Ready to Respond” culture • Remain compliant with all license, certification, immunization and education requirements
Actively participate in quality management programs and ensure constant state of regulatory readiness
Actively demonstrate competency in all training, including advanced skills and procedures approved by Medical Director, protocol testing, case reviews, initial training for new medical equipment and/or procedures, clinical rotations or clinical simulations, and lecture deliveries
Develop and maintain rapport with health system staff, physicians, and leaders, exhibiting professionalism and respectful demeanor at all times
Contribute to the professional growth of new employees by serving as a clinical coach or preceptor
Active participant in safety, education, quality, and outreach workgroup activity
Display excellent stewardship regarding overtime, medical supplies, operational items, and completion of all transport / billing paperwork accurately and promptly
Exhibit professional clinical and operational flexibility with task demand related to air and ground vehicles
Education & Experience
Minimum three years paramedic experience in high-volume 911 or critical care setting
Associates degree or higher preferred
Previous air medical experience preferred

Computer Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlookand electronic Patient Care Record (ePCR) software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current Tennessee Paramedic license (Critical Care endorsement preferred)
Current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR; ACLS; PALS or equivalent and TPATC/PHTLS advanced provider
Specialty certification: (FP-C) required within one (1) year of hire
NRP certification prior to completion of orientation
Annual EMTALA and compliance training
NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat prior to completion of orientation
