Position Description

The Metro Public Health Department is searching for a creative and productive Marketing Communications Coordinator who is comfortable managing multiple projects at once. The preferred candidate is an effective communicator, both online and in-person, who enjoys collaborating with others to make a difference in the health and wellbeing of our community. As our Marketing and Communications Coordinator, the selected candidate will work with our team of public health experts on projects that prevent disease, prepare the community for emergencies, promote animal adoptions, and respond to emerging disease outbreaks.

Typical Duties

  • Creates, develops and carries out marketing and social media campaigns to build awareness and support for MPHD programs and initiatives.

  • Creates and maintains social media platform and messaging content for MPHD and Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC); develops plan to build followers and public interaction.

  • Monitors the public comments and private messages over social media and facilitates department responses.

  • Maintains direct contact with Health Department leaders and their programs in order to generate new social media campaigns and communication initiatives.

  • Supports the communications component of the MPHD accreditation process.

  • Works with Metro Nashville Network to manage MPHD video production projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited (4) four-year college or university (advertising, marketing, journalism, or public relations’ degree) and one (1) year of responsible, full-time employment in public relations, advertising, marketing, journalism or content creation experience.

Valid driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, however at the present time MPHD is not sponsoring individuals through any of the US Governments employment-based immigration programs.
