Position Description
The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) of Nashville and Davidson County and its Bureau of Environmental Health are looking for the right candidate to join our Air Pollution Control team. Our dedicated staff is responsible for promoting the physical health and welfare of the public by protecting and enhancing the quality of the ambient air in Nashville.

Typical Duties
Conducting inspections of stationary air pollution sources to determine compliance with construction and operating permits.
Maintain a sufficient knowledge of local and Federal air pollution regulations. Assist the regulated community by reviewing all calculations associated with annual emission inventories.
Review renovation/demolition applications as they pertain to asbestos removal. Investigate citizen complaints.
Enter all emission inventories into the database for submission to Federal systems.
Acquire and maintain Visible Emission Evaluation Certification and appropriate asbestos-related certifications.
Inspect active and completed asbestos abatement projects, wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree in environmental health, public health, or the physical and life sciences, including at least 36 hours in Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Science.
Valid driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, however at the present time MPHD is not sponsoring individuals through any of the US Government’s employment-based immigration programs.
