POSITION SUMMARY Driver, Non-CDL delivers and picks-up local food shipments, as well as maintains daily reporting, operations, safety, and other duties. Driver provides customer service and relationship building with internal and external partners to ensure a favorable image of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but not limited to the following: Transports and delivers a variety of product and materials, of which the majority are food items. Loads donations utilizing proper storage methods, procedures, and appropriate equipment. Physically touches freight to load and unloads delivery vehicles containing a variety of supplies, materials, and equipment. Builds relationships and provides customer service to collaborate with internal and external partners in logistical execution of Second Harvests mission by working with donors, Partner Agencies and other cross-functional team members who rely on Drivers work to deliver food and services throughout the local service area. Maintains transportation areas and warehouse equipment in a neat, clean, orderly, and safe manner. Operates in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Safety and Maintenance: Observes OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations. Follows all company and regulatory agency safety policies. Obeys all traffic laws and drives defensively. Checks vehicles fluid levels, tire pressure and cleanliness. Reports any unsafe equipment or working conditions to supervisor. Reports any needed repairs or special maintenance to supervisor immediately. Maintains a clean and functional vehicle. Reports potential safety issues and service needs. Follows the regular vehicle maintenance schedule, as provided by supervisor. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No, this position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Department: Transportation Reports To: Director, Transportation Job Family: Business Support FTE/FLSA Classification: Full-Time/Non-Exempt Prepared By: Kim Molnar Revised: March 2022 DRIVER, NON CDL Job Description Driver, Non-CDL - Job Description Page 2 HOURS The typical weekly schedule varies daily given assigned route and occurs between Monday - Friday from 5 AM - 2 PM with daily averages of 8-10 hours and weekly averages ranging from 37.5 - 55/ hours. One Saturday per month is required for all Drivers, which is self-selected and can be covered by others is needed/ desired. Overtime is commonly available for those who desire it though is not guaranteed. Schedule flexibility for earlier starts and later end times are required. Occasional evenings and/or weekends may be required for meetings or special events. Occasional duties may be necessary, as well as responding to issues, outside of normal working hours (e.g., disaster response, community events, etc.). TRAVEL Routine daily travel is required with the service area for nearly 100% of work responsibilities. Current drivers license with copy of current auto insurance and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) results required. All employees may be required to perform regular or emergent duties on-site. Employee safety will be balanced with business and community necessity. Some positions are more likely to be required on-site than others. This position is considered part of he essential crew and is required to be on-site or off-site performing essential duties. Therefore, this position is not eligible for Remote or Telecommuting portion of WorkFlex.
