Against that backdrop, we are seeking an accomplished executive to join our Capital Strategy and planning group. In this critical role, you will work closely with the Humana’s Management Team members, on issues, challenges, and imperatives that are central to the company’s capital strategy. As such, this position will touch virtually every facet of the business.
The Director, Capital Strategy and Planning will report directly to the VP of Capital Strategy & Planning.
Key Responsibilities
· Recommend and guide future capital approach at the entity/state and consolidated HUM level
· Identify and recommend critical investments in core assets, new technologies, and approaches to support the elevation of capital visibility and integration into existing HUM forecasting, corporate development, and planning.
· Guide the process to determine the allocation of capital resources across Humana’s businesses, existing infrastructure, and expansion projects, including optimization of existing resources.
· Establish and update processes for evaluating investments in new operational assets, evolving technologies, and new standards. The business case evaluation should incorporate whole-life cycle analysis, operating and capital costs, and performance outcomes.
· Communicate strategies clearly and succinctly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Promote understanding, transparency of capital projects.
· Shape implementation considerations for recommendations, working with business owners, as appropriate, to transition strategic analysis into execution.
· Foster highly productive working relationships that enable close collaboration with Humana’s Management Team as well as key corporate, functional, and business unit leaders.
· Prepare Board or investor-ready materials that communicate Humana’s capital allocation strategy and performance against it.
· Guide and set priorities for capital data analytics, including expanding and tapping into complex data sources to deepen Humana’s understanding of its assets, projects, and performance outcomes.
· Continually improve Humana’s understanding of its capital risks and opportunities.
· Lead and manage 2-3 Direct reports.

Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree
5 plus years of related experience in capital planning and asset management working in a highly regulated environment
Advanced proficiency in financial statement analysis and modeling
Deep experience in short-term and long-term capital planning with a proven track record of running the capital planning/strategy process on an enterprise scale in a complex, multi-business environment
Track record of delivering demonstrated value through strategic initiatives to support the enterprise
Current or recent experience in a large, highly matrixed company (i.e., Fortune 150), with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment
Proven ability to build high-performing teams by identifying, cultivating, and motivating top talent from inside and outside of the organization
Strategic thought partnership and ability to learn business, helping to shape multi-year strategies to support overall business growth
Ability to work through tumultuous or ambiguous scenarios successfully and with a high sense of urgency
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree - MBA, CFA, Data Science is ideal
Additional Info:
While US Remote will be considered for candidates with a strong skill set, a hybrid workstyle in located either in the downtown Louisville, Ky or DC office locations is strongly preferred.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$184,800 - $254,100 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
