Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for handling accounts payable processes, performing general ledger activities, and assisting with various accounting projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable (AP):

Process 15-20 accounts payable transactions weekly, with increased workload during payroll weeks.

Review incoming invoices and communicate with internal departments to ensure proper coding and approval of purchase orders.

Upload invoices into the system if not already electronic and send them off to the accountant for processing.

Manage various projects including compiling receipts and preparing reports as needed.

General Ledger (GL):

Prepare journal entries during the 1st week of each month, typically involving 7-10 recurring entries.

Complete bank reconciliations by Tuesday/Thursday of the 2nd week, totaling 6-7 reconciliations.

Focus on reconciling the operating account, which often involves more complex transactions and requires careful attention to detail.

Update the account module monthly with account codes to expense codes, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.

Additional Duties:

Collaborate with internal departments to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to accounts payable or general ledger activities.

Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes as necessary.

Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve accounting processes and procedures.

Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2+ years of experience in accounting roles, preferably with experience in accounts payable and general ledger functions.

Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
